Pamela-Gallagher  Pamela Gallagher – Chair of the Trustees

Pam has been a trustee of GEMMS since it began.  She has been treasurer, vice-chair and chair at various times. Her work has been mainly in the education field, formerly at North Hertfordshire College and now at the Open University.  She was also a member of Stevenage Borough Council.

 James Greenham – Treasurer

James has been a trustee since 2017, and is an accountant, having read accounting and finance at university. James is the Financial Controller for a global fashion company. 

James has a keen interest in dementia and the ways to slow the progression of the disease.

In his spare time James enjoys football, skiing and reading. 

  Gemma Winsor – Secretary

Gemma has recently joined GEMMS as the secretary. Gemma has worked with people with Dementia for many years and has numerous links with other local voluntary and statutory organisations. Gemma has experience of supporting people with Dementia and their carers through employment but also within her family.

Ken has been involved with GEMMS for many years, acting as the treasurer for many of those. Ken first came into contact with GEMMS about 20 years ago when his mother was attending GEMMS on Fridays. Ken formerly worked at MBDA in Stevenage for 42 years before being made redundant in 2007. Ken’s hobbies are sport, bird watching, nature of any sort, travel, and spending time with his family.

Sarah joined GEMMS as a trustee in 2014. Sarah’s involvement with GEMMS began several years before when her Grandmother attended GEMMS. Sarah was a carer for her grandmother and has a considerable understanding of the effects of Dementia both on the individual and on their families.

ann-recaptured  Ann Franklin

Ann has been involved with GEMMS since its inception, apart from a short break, more than 20 years ago.  During that time Ann has seen GEMMS grow and evolve to provide the services we provide today. As a former carer, Ann knows the huge difference GEMMS makes to the lives of carers, giving them a few hours per week to have their “own time”. In her spare time, Ann loves to travel, to see different ways of life, cultures and sampling the food of the countries she visits, Ann also enjoys reading and walking. Most importantly Ann loves to spend time with her family.

  Matthew Haslett

Matt is a volunteer and trustee for GEMMS, he attends Gemms every Friday. He is on hand to help our service users and to interact with them. He really enjoys being able to help with the quizzes and musical bingo and making people laugh. Matt works for Woolenwick infant and nursery school in Stevenage as a site manager and teaching assistant.
