We are incredibly grateful for the donations we receive in memory of loved ones, and hope that families and friends find comfort knowing that the funds they generously give will continue to support other families experiencing the effects of dementia.
Donate for a celebration
Make a special occasion extra special, whether it’s a wedding, birthday or anniversary celebration by asking your guests; friends and family to mark the occasion by making a donation to GEMMS.
We’d love to hear from you if you’re thinking of asking guests to donate to GEMMS, please contact us if you would like support and information in achieving this.
Leave a gift in your Will
After providing for your family and friends you may wish to leave a charitable gift in your Will to contribute to the continuing work of GEMMS. Leaving a gift in your Will is a really unique way of donating and is becoming increasingly popular.
A new will
We strongly advise that you seek professional advice and contact a solicitor if you are yet to write a Will. If you do not already have a solicitor, you can use the Law Society’s website or contact the Citizens Advice Bureau to find a local firm.
In England and Wales there are many free Wills schemes. In November of each year, many solicitors across England and Wales participate in WillsAid. This scheme encourages applicants to make a £100 donation to charity in exchange for a Will.
If you’re 55 or over you can also take advantage of the Free Wills Month scheme in October, a solicitor will write your will and incorporate everything you wish to leave to family and friends in addition to any charitable donation you wish to make.
Already have a Will?
If you already have a Will, but you would like to change it to incorporate a charity donation to GEMMS, you would need to complete a codicil. A codicil is a document that is used to change a Will that has already been made. It is a simple way to make additions or amendments to an existing Will.
We hope that these pages give you all the key information that you might need. However, if you’ve got any questions at all, please do get in touch, we’d be happy to ask any questions.
